Business Systems Application Manager

role responsibility

The role of the Business Systems Application Manager is to build business solutions to provide competitive advantage in support of the growth of the business in a way that satisfies our strategic ambitions.  They will:

  • lead the day-to-day operation of the Business Systems Application team
  • be responsible for conducting projects to evolve business application software, data and related hardware so that these perform to the service levels agreed with the business, avoiding outages and reduced performance when transitioned into the business environment
  • ensure a consistent application of data quality standards and policies in the administration and management of systems, e.g. epos data deployed to store estate, right first time, in line with menu launch
  • take responsibility for the release approach and maintenance of the business system applications through the planning and rollout of upgrades and enhancements to these systems
  • be responsible for the implementation of IT to maintain compliance against our regulatory obligations (e.g. PCI and GDPR) and broader business needs. 
  • be the technical authority for the business system applications for itsu, representing IT and building positive working relationships across the business and with external partners and suppliers
  • act as the business systems sensei with a keen eye to the future and how innovation can drive simplification and digital transformation for all areas of the business, from the Academy to the Retail Stores and in support of Grocery when needed
  • evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of existing business processes and legacy systems as part of providing the foundation for future technology demands within itsu
  • implement all change in business systems ensuring it is designed, built, tested and documented   to ensure a seamless transition from project into business-as-usual support through collaboration with the IT Support Manager
  • work closely with the IT director to define the overall IT strategy for itsu and work as part of the IT management team to ensure the IT function delivers on our strategic ambitions

the ideal candidate

  • Experience in the management of store and back-office systems
  • Technical knowledge of epos systems, both software and hardware, in a dynamic retail environment
  • Combines a high level of technical knowledge with in-depth business operation and process expertise in the retail sector, preferably in hospitality
  • Extensive experience in data warehouse and reporting technologies
  • A willingness to get into the detail of data, data standards and system management
  • Understanding of in-store and ecommerce payment technologies
  • Appreciation of release management strategies and their application in a rapidly changing environment
  • Project management experience
  • Able to lead and facilitate training where required and liaise with Learning and Development to ensure that end user training is effective
  • Ability to prepare workflow analysis in the support of business process engineering
  • An inquisitive mind to hunt out opportunities to make the best of itsu IT
  • Previous experience working with PCI regulation
  • Third party management
  • Senior stake holder management experience
  • Strong communication skills
