scope of the role

itsu [grocery] is looking for a finance manager who will be responsible for managing the management accounts, purchase ledger and sales ledger. This position will manage a team of 3 and report into the Finance Director. This role is for a for a ‘hands on’ person who would like to progress to become a FC. 

This role is perfect for an ambitious management accountant or similar looking for your first step up to leadership and taking ownership of day-to-day financial operations, with significant autonomy and the opportunity to progress quickly. The role involves: 

• Manage, develop and challenge your team
• Overall responsibility for the company and consolidated monthly and annual accounts for both the UK company and Dutch subsidiary
• Ensuring financial information is prepared accurately and in a timely manner
• Responsible for collating financial information for the monthly board meetings
• In charge of submitting the group and investor monthly reporting packs
• Oversight of both the sales and purchase ledgers to ensure their accuracy and to flag potential issues for the business
• Business partner with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure the accuracy of the month end accounts
• Providing senior stakeholders with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide effective financial strategy and commercial decision making
• Accountable for submissions to HMRC and tax advisers
• Communicate with external parties [HMRC, banks, insurance providers, auditors etc] on behalf of the company
• Assessing the impact of new accounting standards and leading projects to implement them and for drafting technical accounting proposals where needed
• Providing high-quality financial accounting support throughout the organisation, with the overall aim of enabling decision makers to understand the impact of initiatives and decisions

the ideal candidate

• Finalist or newly qualified accountant [ACCA / CIMA preferred]
• Experience delivering full monthly management accounts
• Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge [required] and SAGE 200 [preferred]
• Desire to mentor and develop your team
• Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
• Ability to work effectively with minimal management guidance or supervision
• The energy and self-motivation to work within a rapidly growing business that is constantly evolving with changing priorities
• An open-minded approach to the role and a flexible, can do, friendly attitude
• Good organisation skills and ability to communicate effectively [verbally and in writing]
