role responsibility

The Safety Manager will lead all aspects of health and safety, food safety and fire safety across all levels of itsu within shops and academy. Partnering with all departments, they will build, implement and maintain a safety management system that complies with safety standards and legislation while also driving a positive safety culture of best practice ensuring itsu remains a leader of safety in the industry.

They will support the Head of Safety in all matters of compliance and will be required to have an excellent understanding of safety standards and legislation

Providing a safe, clean + legally compliant environment for everyone in our shops and ensuring the brand is protected through the delivery and monitoring of high standards.

 

Here are the key responsibilities:

 

  • Act as the responsible and accountable person for all health and safety, food safety and fire safety matters across itsu
  • Be the guardian of itsu’s standards, policies and procedures and the technical subject matter expert for health and safety and food safety, ensuring these are consistently reviewed
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all key stakeholders, ensuring cross-functional working relationships are maintained
  • Remain proactively innovative by constantly reviewing processes and trends to ensure itsu always leads in the Health and Safety, Food Safety and fire safety within the industry
  • Play an integral role in the business in partnering with the operations team, using expertise to offer high challenge and support to the shops and management teams
  • Set, complete and monitor the itsu safe, clean and legal standards which will be monitored through the internal auditing programme. Where required complete shop visits, setting smart action plans in coordination with relevant departments and shops teams
  • Own the strategic direction for health and safety programmes including first aid, Fire Marshall, and safety legends ensuring the standard is set for compliance along with the monitoring of these 
  • Constantly review and develop all aspects of itsu’s health, safety policies and activity, and ensure that it is implemented consistently across the business
  • Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensure that itsu has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and all other requirements
  • Ensure accidents, incidents and alleged food poisonings are investigated thoroughly within the agreed timelines, analysing trends and setting regular strategic plans to improve compliance, liaising with operations, Customer Services, external organisations and when necessary customers. 
  • Ensure accidents and incidents are reported to the HSE under RIDDOR as required
  • Ensuring that supplier complaints are investigated thoroughly by the Technical manager
  • Management of the Alert 65 system, which sites use to report accident and incident along with reporting eho visit and recording their risk assessments
  • Supporting the Head of Safety with the completion of the periodic board pack
  • Partner with maintenance and construction teams to ensure our shops are built and maintained to a safe and legally compliant standard. Ensuring regular reports are available to the Head of Safety on the statutory compliance across the estate along with agreed action plans 
  • Proactively maintain and communicate with itsu’s primary authority for all safety matters
  • Ensuring assured advice is gained from primary authority and this is maintained
  • Make contact with and maintain positive relationships where required with environmental health officers
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with itsu partnership teams, ensuring we maintain contractual obligations

the ideal candidate

  • Level 4 food safety qualification holder
  • Experience liaising with local authority enforcement officers
  • Strong experience of designing, delivering and managing cross-departmental projects
  • Highly conscientious and diligent
  • Experience in safety within a multi-site QSR or hospitality environment
